R744 is environmentally friendly, it has zero ozone depletion potential and minimal global warming potential. It also has excellent thermodynamic properties and low energy consumption, making it suitable for a range of applications, such as industrial heat extraction, the cold storage, the ships, commercial refrigeration and vehicle air conditioning. A big difference between R744 and other refrigerants is the pressure characteristics / temperature: due to the high pressure and low critical temperature, cooling systems require special equipment design.
